Course Description

This course reports on the collapse of a 206-foot clear span metal building system during erection due to instability of the partially completed structure. By studying this paper, you will be introduced to the system effects that are inherent in metal building system design, and better understand the need to proper temporary bracing of these structures during erection.

Specific Learning Objectives

• Learn how metal buildings operate as synergistic systems
• Learn how metal building systems may be unstable during erection.
• Learn the responsibilities for bracing of these buildings during erection.
