Course Description
This course is an introduction to the Steel Deck Institute SDI NC-2010 Standard for Non-Composite Steel Floor Deck. This Standard is incorporated by reference into the 2012 International Building Code. By studying this Standard, you will be introduced to general design criteria for strength and stiffness of this deck, and learn how to properly design and specify this deck.
Learning Objectives
• Learn the criteria for design of the deck as a form prior to the curing of the concrete, including requirements for construction loading.
• Learn the criteria for the design of the concrete as a reinforced concrete slab.
• Learn how to specify deck and accessories, such as pour stops.
• Learn the how to specify welds and mechanical attachments.
